This
is the most widely accepted and preferred format. Focus
is on educational details/employment history starting with
the most recent or current details. Employers perceive this resume
style as fact based.

Candidates
with many years of work experience and a logical job history
What
is a functional resume?
It
is used to focus on work experience or specific skills
that may not be very obvious to the employer in a traditional
chronological format. A well written functional resume should
help employer to visualize the overall work history that
is linked to candidate's individual accomplishments.
Suitable
for :

Candidates who have frequently shifted job function i.e. no clear
connection uniting the various job positions
(2)
First entrants to the workforce i.e. have no work experience and
thus need to project their work skills and personality skills.
(3)
Candidates making a career change i.e. changing industry manufacturing
technician to service technician or marketing to Human Resource
etc.
